Father’s Day gift moving for Panthers’ Bradley Bozeman

For Carolina Panthers center Bradley Bozeman’s first Father’s Day as a father, his wife, former Alabama women’s basketball player Nikki Hegstetter Bozeman, got him something special.

The Bozemans became parents of a baby boy in January.

Via her Twitter account, Nikki Bozeman explained she was able to obtain a pickup truck that had belonged to a late uncle of her husband. She made it a Father’s Day present, and the gift had an emotional impact on Bradley Bozeman.

“I can’t put into words what this means to me,” Bradley Bozeman shared via his Twitter account. “My Uncle Roy was one of the most amazing men God put on this Earth. To be able to roll the window down and ride in his truck is something truly special. When the radio clicked on and gospel music was playing, I know he was saying, ‘I’m right here.’”

“I’m always amazed at how God always shows up and shows out,” Nikki Bozeman wrote.

Bradley Bozeman is preparing for his second season with Carolina after signing a three-year, $18 million contract extension in March.

An alumnus of Handley High School in Roanoke, Bozeman served as Alabama’s starting center in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, capping his career in the Crimson Tide’s 26-23 overtime victory against Georgia in the CFP national championship game.

After the Baltimore Ravens selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Bozeman played 214 offensive snaps in 14 games with one start as a rookie. For the next three seasons, he hardly came off the field for the Baltimore offense.

With Bozeman at left guard, the Ravens rushed for more than 3,000 yards in the 2019 and 2020 seasons – two of the six times that had been accomplished in NFL history.

Bozeman shifted to center for Baltimore in 2021.

Bozeman joined Carolina as a free agent last year on a one-year, $2.8 million contract. He didn’t play an offensive snap in the Panthers’ first six games of the 2022 season, but he played every one in the remaining 11.

Carolina’s players are on their summer break. The team’s rookies are scheduled to report on July 22 and the veterans on July 25 for training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Panthers kick off their three-game preseason schedule against the New York Jets on Aug. 12 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
